On August 30, the Winnipeg Chinese Seniors Association (WCSA) held its 2026 Annual General Meeting at Canad Inns (Fort Garry). Board members, association members, and volunteer representatives attended the meeting to review the association’s work over the past year and exchange views on its future development.

At the meeting, President Jiang Yan presented the Board’s annual work report, outlining the progress WCSA made over the past year in areas including senior health and active living, cultural heritage, services for newcomers, youth engagement, volunteer development, and community partnerships. The meeting also heard the financial report and reports on various programs and initiatives.

In accordance with the association’s board term arrangements, a board election was held at the meeting. Following the election, the Board met and decided to accept Jiang Yan’s request to step down as President of WCSA. Dr. Liu Songyan was appointed President, with Qin Kuisi, Chai Jian, and Cong Yan serving as Vice Presidents. Jiang Yan will continue to serve as a board member and, as Past President, will continue to support the association’s work.

Newly appointed President Dr. Liu Songyan stated that, building on its existing foundation, WCSA will place greater emphasis in the future on sound governance, stability, focus, collaboration, talent development, and continuity. The association will continue to serve its members, connect with the community, and promote healthy and sustainable development.

Ten years of dedication have laid a strong foundation, and the torch is now being passed to a new generation. The new leadership team also marks the beginning of a new chapter in WCSA’s development.
